We do not gather personal information unless you supply it voluntarily, either through using our patient portal, webstore, or contacting us via the website, e-mail, telephone, or in person. We make no attempt to link email addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our website. Any personal information you voluntarily provide is protected under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Any health information you provide is collected and protected under the Health Information Act (HIA). You have a right to access the personal and health information we collect at any time. Information is not disclosed to anyone except our staff, optometrists, those directly involved in your care, or those who require information to provide services to you. As outlined in our full privacy policy, only those parts of your personal or health information required for your care are disclosed to parties involved in health or administrative aspects of your care.

By using our e-store, you consent to the collection of information to be used for the purposes of order fulfillment, tracking and proof of purchase. By using our patient portal, the health information that we collect is used to determine the eligibility and suitability for the services provided by Mission Eye Care, its doctors, and staff under section 27 of the Health Information Act. It is collected under the authority of the Alberta Health Care Insurance Act and/or section 20(b) of the Health Information Act – directly related to and necessary to carry out an authorized purpose.
